Continuing Bulbul Longa on Qataqufti scale Tareq: Let us try to play the 8/8 qataqufti together, the picks here can be manipulated widely, why/ because the fast paced phrases have to be by the rule, but the slow phrases we can play trill for example 1 2 3 4 *Play* like this. Usually in this part I slow down a bit, in the previous 5/8 , I will read from the last line of 5/8 and enter 8/8, which are the last 4 bars of 5/8 *Play* now in5/8 we pick up speed *Play* you will ask me why I did this ? maybe it is my point of view that the purpose of qataqufti here is to ease things and give a more tarabi ambiance and break out of 5/8 mood. Now in the last 4 bars before chorus *Play* here nothing is different with positions, but for speed purposed I play it all down Sol Si Re Fa La Sol Si Re Fa La , # Fa with first, there is shifting between Re # Fa and La, then Sol Sol Sol La Fa Sol Sol Sol Sol. Now repeat with the scale 1 2 3 1 2 *Play* now back to chorus. Let me play the fourth verse continuously 1 2 3 1 2 *Play* and move to chorus. I will record Bulbul Longa in full with no interruptions, and I hope that you will read it as I do , tempo, notes , phrase by phrase to get it right. You might find a bit of trouble in the beginning because we are now playing contemporary Longas, the mindset has evolved out of the classical mindset that once was , we have moved between scales, played multiple scales, phrases are different from the norm. this is normal due to the openness and exposure, the world is always evolving, we must not stay classical. I hope you like it and see you in the next lesson.
