Learning Samaee Rast by Tatius Afandi Tareq: Hello my name is Tareq AL Jundi from izif.com. today in lesson number 19 and 20, we will play the last piece of this course, which is Samaee Rast by Tatius Afandi. Let us look at the Samaee in hand. We know that Rast scale is the main scale in Arabic music. As we have here in the first verse, let us read it 1 2 3 Do Sol Do Re Mi Fa Re Mi Do Sol Do Re Mi Fa Mi Re Fa Fa Mi Mi Re Mi Do Re Mi Fa La Sol Fa Mi Fa Re Mi Do Re Do Fa Mi Re Re Mi Re Do Do Re Mi Fa Sol , let us try to play it 1 2 3 *Play* let us see the chorus Do Sol Sol La Sol Fa Mi Re Mi Fa Sol La Fa La Sol Mi Sol Fa Re Fa Mi Do Re Mi Sol Fa Mi Re Mi Fa Mi Fa Mi Re Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Sol Fa Mi Re Re Mi Re Do Do Re Mi Fa Sol , let us try to play the chorus 1 2 3 *Play* Seconda *Play* Samaee is very easy notes wise, it is simple, performance wise we will discuss now. Let us read the second verse, and notice how in this second verse we have a transition notation which is ♭ La , 1 2 3 : Do Sol La Sol Fa Mi Fa Sol La Fa Sol Fa La Sol Si La Do Si Re si Do Si La Sol La Si La Sol Fa Sol La Sol Fa Mi Re Mi Fa Mi Re Do Re Mi Fa Sol La Sol Fa Si La La Sol Sol, this scale we see here *Play* the first genre here is Rast Do *Play* then *Play* Hijaz Sol . we talked about it in the first course , what we call Soznak, it starts with Rast Do *Play*Hijaz Sol *Play* from the fifth step, starting Hijaz note. When we have Rast and Hijaz scale from fifth step we call it Soznak. Let us try to play it 1 2 3 *Play* I will try to play the first verse, chorus and second verse with no interruptions 1 2 3 *Play* this concludes the first verse, chorus and second verse of Samaee Rast Tatius Afandi. In the next lesson we will play the third and fourth verse. I want to draw your attention to something very important, those piece as much as they need practice they also need listening. Music is not always related to my fingers, because this is our main instrument to be used, we need to listen a lot to the performance of composers and players when they play those pieces. Samaee Rast by Tatius Afandi , we already learned Hijaz Kar Kurd by Tatius Afandi. It is considered one of the classical Samaee of the Ottoman era. There are many recordings that we can listen to in order to imitate. It is also very important that after we read the phrases, we try to sing it, because if you can sing it you can play it and express it better. See you in the next lesson.
