15 - Samaee Nahawand
Learn to play Samaee Nahawand by the Jordanian musician Amer Madi

Hello my name is Tareq Al Jundi from izif.com. Today in lesson number 15 we will learn Samaee Nahawand for the late Jordanian composer Amer Madi.
Let us look at the Samaee we have in hand, as I told you, the first verse and chorus will be on Nahawand scale, because they are the first parts that instill the original scale.
In the second verse there is no scale index as you can see, no ♭ Si, ♭ Mi, ♭ La, so it is on Ajam scale. The third verse, the second scale is on Ajam Do. The third verse is on a scale called Al Nakreez. You will notice that La is now ♮ , Nakreez scale is Do Re ♭ Mi, # Fa, Sol, ♮ La, ♭ Si, Do. *Play* it sounds like Hijaz but based on Do *Play* as if it emphasizes only when you play this*Play*
The fourth verse is on a scale called Noah Athar, which we learned in the third course. Remember that Noah Athar is like Nhawand scale, but the fourth and seventh note are raised, Do Re ♭ Mi # Fa Sol ♭ La ♮ Si Do *Play* it is on a 7/8 tempo, but this 7/8 tempo is different from the doltoran that we learned, the is opposite the scale and is called Dor Hindi, I will talk about it in a bit.

If we look at the first verse and chorus, we notice that the composer like to mix between ♭ La and ♮ La, from the second bar in the first verse *Play* ♮ La. Why is that? Because the Nahawand scale that we know *Play* has the seventh notes raised, we have the Nahawand scale with the sixth and seventh note raise *Play* ♮ La , Si Do , this is called Melodic Minor and in Arabic it is called Subbi. It was widely used in Takseem, especially by Muneer Basher, for example when he played *Play* it is a mix of Nahwand genre with Ajam genre, kind of bittersweet, a bit of happiness and sadness in the same scale.
Let us look at the second verse, we have no transition notations in the second verse. It is Ajam, we have 3 ♮s only to undo the ♭ Si, ♭ Mi and ♭ La.
