Hello my name is Tareq Al Jundi from i3zif.com. Today in lesson #16 we will learn a few warm up exercises for the pick, on the open string. Let us look at the first exercise , we have Do Sol, Tati, *Play music*notice Sol is up *Play music* look at this slash, this means repeat the previous, so instead of writing Do Sol 4 times, I write it once and follow it with / / /, I will sound like *Play music*, the second bar *Play music* , third bar *Play music* , fourth bar *Play music* fifth bar *Play music* now start gradually increasing speed *Play music*, then when you exercise again it will be faster *Play music* always *Play music* we have to reach a point that the strength of the pick going up is the same as going down. Look at the second exercise which is a variation, we can keep an eye on the Oud to see the cords, the first bar is Do Sol *Play music* second one is Do Re, Re is up*Play music*, third bar is Do La *Play music*, then Do Sol *Play music* then Do Do *Play music* and we have to practice slowly, because the process of Down Up on various cords, we would be skipping multiple cords, it is a bit tricky. But this exercise is very important for warm ups. Let us look at the third exercise, we all know this signal Ta TiFi, Ta *Play music* what is required from this exercise is not only to play Ta TiFi, we need to gradually increase the speed, first time would be *Play music* we can speed up a little *Play music* then faster *Play music* and on all cords *Play music* Ta TiFiX4 *Play music* then we go faster and faster, the fastest we can get to after continuous exercise, it is an accumulation of not only months, maybe years, but you will notice how the wrist only gets smoother with every time *Play music* because this will be the start of rhythmic picks. We also have Ta TiFi Tati Tati Ta TiFi Tati Tati, a 3/4 scale, *Play music* with picks down down up down up down up*Play music* faster *Play music* and this exercise can be applied on all scales, for example the first exercise we saw Ta TiFi Ta TiFi can be played on Ajam Do *Play music* and repeat, also Ta TiFi Tati Tati *Play music* now look at the next exercise Ta TiFi Ta Fa Ti *Play music* same thing can be applied on all scales. Next exercise Ta TiFi Teta Ti Tati Ta TiFi Teta Ti Tati *Play music*notice that we have the Ta TiFi Teta Ti Down up, 2 downs consecutively . we will play it slowly, but keep in mind that we need to learn to play faster *Play music* Nahawand scale for example *Play music* this process needs some time, but with time it will come, because this is how it is done. This is why I tried to give a basic of reverse pick, but this needs to bring me to the rhythmic pick, not everything is done by tapping, up and down. Last exercise of Ta Fa ti *Play music* we know the pick is down up down down up down *Play music* faster *Play music*those exercises strengthen my right hand. And sometime it is important when you start playing Oud to hold it with your right hand and start exercising those exercises, *Play music* , or *Play music* and then start playing the rhythmic signs the Ta TiFi and Ta Fa Ti , and the signs we talked about. Those exercises are very important and will be daily warm up exercises. My advice is to play it even for only 5 minutes before playing.
