5 - intro to the song : Hayyarti Albi Maak
In the fifth lesson we learn the intro to the song : Hayyarti Albi Maak by Um Kulthoum as an application on Kurd scale. Mr. Tareq starts by reminding us of the tones to Kurd scale from Re, then continues to explain the parts of the intro by reading them rhythmically and playing each part. He concludes by playing it entirely, beginning through end.

Hello my name is Tareq Al Jundi from i3zif.com. today in lesson no. 5 from the curriculum of Mr. Omar Abbad we will learn a song and application on Al Kurd scale which is called Hayyarti Albi Maak. Before we start with the song , I would like to remind you of Al Kurd scale that we learned before, Kurd Re. we had two alternation signs, 2 bemols, ♭ Si and ♭ Mi, and if you remember, in the first course we learned Al Kurd scale, but it was Kurd La, same finger movement but we go up a cord. La ♭ Si, Do Re Mi Fa Sol La, notice.. same finger movement and pattern except on La cord, here finger pattern was on Re cord.
What I want to say is that you will notice that scales reoccur in different cords, we Have Kurd La, Kurd Re, Hijaz La, Hijaz Re and Hijaz Sol, same scale but different cord. This is called versions of the scale, and why do we use them? When the singer wants to perform, Kurd Re for example might be too high for the singer, so he won’t reach it, he would ask the musician to go down a scale.. the musician can do the same scale on La cord. In this case, the scale is lower. I wanted to draw your attention this note that you can have the same scale but on different levels of notes. Now let us look at the application we have, Hayyarti Albi Maak song, we have written here, let us try to read it. At the beginning we have an alternation sign ♮ Si, let us read it with the metronome : 4 Si Do Re Re Re Re Re Re Fa Mi Mi Re Mi , Sol Fa Mi Re Mi Re Do Si Do Re , I will try to play it.. 2.. next: Re Do Re La Si Do Si La Sol Do, Si Do Sol La Si La Sol Fa Re, Do Re La Si Do Si La Sol Do ♮ Si Do Sol, La Si La Sol Fa Re.. Do Re down up down up down up Do, note the ♮ Si, Next.. Si Sol Si La Re Re Re Re La Fa La Sol La Si Sol Fa Sol La Fa Mi Fa Sol Mi Re Do Si Do Re, then Si Do Re Re Re Re Re Re , repeat 4 times before singing.. now from the ♭ Si , 1 2 … this is the third time, the fourth time.. okay, this way we have dissected the piece. Each tati , like the third bar in the third line, down La, Si up, Do Si La Sol, then all down Do down ♮ Si down, Do down, Sol down, La up, Si down, La up, Sol Fa.. next, Si down, Sol down, Si down, La down, Re up, then tati ta.. this way.. let me play it continuously to get a feel of the intro.. this concludes the application on Al Kurd scale, Hayyarti ALbi Maak by Um Kulthoum. See you in the next lesson to talk about a new note.
