Mr. Majed explains the dimensions of Al Bayyati scale while playing it on the Qanun. Then Mr. Majed plays Al Bayyati Doolab.
__
Welcome to i3zif.com. we have reached lesson #15. We will be introduced to a new scale called “ Al Bayyati”. Al Bayyati scale is close to Rast scale, but is different in its beginning, in the scale. Rast scale is from Do to Do, Bayyati scale is Re to Re. there is also another difference, in Rast Si and Mi are lowered by ¼ note; ½ ♭Mi, and ½♭Si. In Bayyati here, only Mi is like the one in Rast ½ ♭,but Si is a full ♭;it is lowered by 2 degrees. The Zither would look like this: Mi is lowered by 1 degree= ¼ note, and Si is lowered by 2 degrees= ½ note (1 degree= ¼ note) , and Si is ♭Si, and Mi is ½ ♭Mi. and the scale is as I will play right now *Play music* this is Al Bayyati scale, and this is a Taqseem to present the scale, like we are used to in our oriental music, we present the scale, so we will enjoy Bayyati. We have played Al Bayyati scale from Re to Re, and I performed a simple Taqseem to present the scale. Now I will play Doolab Bayyati, which is the subject of our lesson today *Play music* it is obvious in this Doolab that there are some technical parts, Ferdash, skill and performance . we want to raise the bar in our playing. We will see that we started with La, the 5th note of the scale, *Play music* *sound tune* *Play music* here showed hops, Ferdash and skill of playing. The part we started from the fifth noted, we repeated it exactly, its sequence on the 4th; when we started from La : La Si La Si La Re Do Re, we repeat from 4th : Sol La Sol La Sol Do Si Do , same sequence, and this is how we played the closing *Play music* . later we showed a new form, which needs technique and practice, we can play it as an exercise, it is similar to one *Play music* we can play this as an exercise, and as a general rule, if I find a part that is difficult, I practice it all over the Zither. This tune is beautiful, it has sequence, and form, so we repeat it. So this musical part is an exercises as well as a beautiful tune. *Play music* now the closing of the tune, similar to the closing of Taqseem. I would like to play the previous tune slowly so we can pay attention how to play it *Play music* with this we finish our lesson today. Stay tuned and see you next lesson.
